The King’s Cross-based PPC Agency has gone from strength to strength since our earliest encounters with them, and since their beginning in 2012.

Owner and founder Dan Gilbert, all round twitterati legend and good egg, shared with us why Brainlabs has continued to find it so beneficial to business to enter the Search Awards, and how it has helped the agency to grow.

“I love the UK Search Awards. Even when we’re not winning them the work being celebrated is exceptional. It’s a superb opportunity to celebrate innovation in our industry – and have a great time. Since picking up Best Large PPC Agency we’ve had a raft of calls and new business requests from companies we could only have dreamed of before the win.”

Booming despite Brexit fears: celebrate the construction industry at the On the Tools Awards!

Contrary to fears that the economic instability unleashed by the EU Referendum would have a severe impact on UK construction – particularly the housing industry, the falling pound has actually boosted construction companies.

Far from signifying worse things to come, the reduced exchange rate has buoyed British exports – with manufacturers reporting the strongest exports in 2 years in a recent industry report.

construction awards

Kier saw an increase of almost 5% in share prices following new contract wins totalling more than ÂŁ5bn, and so far the figures across the board are positive indicators of unimpeded growth in construction. The resilience and importance of the UK construction industry is a significant reason to celebrate the individuals and companies who contribute to the trade.

The On the Tools Awards, sponsored by Jewson, is doing just that!

From multi-nationals to family firms, the On the Tools Awards will celebrate the best that the UK has to offer across the board, from contractors to training bodies, and companies who provide specialist services such as insurance or PR to those working in construction.

On the Tools is the largest online construction community in the country – making them the centre of networking for professionals in the trade. Their unique voice has positioned them as an influential hub for anyone wanting to network and communicate with their construction peers.

The awards will be a unique opportunity for every element of the construction community to come together to embrace their successes at a sumptuous celebratory dinner, as well as drinks, entertainment, and the presentation ceremony, where the winners will be announced at the Emirates Stadium, London. The scope of the sectors represented in the categories will make the On the Tools awards an ideal business networking occasion – bringing together service providers with service users, as well as being an opportunity for great press exposure.

The awards are free to enter, and both companies and individuals can enter – you are free to nominate your favourite brands, tools and people (and yourself!) as many times as you like – as long as all nominations are submitted by 16 September. Don’t delay – enter to join us in raising a glass to the best in construction!

For any further information regarding the awards, or to begin your nominations, head to the awards site – if you have any questions, please get in touch with the event manager Alex on 01706 828855 or by emailing alex.rimmer@dontpanicprojects.com. We can’t wait to see your entries!

Small business heroes at the FSB Merseyside Business Awards.

It may be the multinationals that grab most of the headlines and hashtags, but small business has never been bigger.

Though many may have had their money on large corporations to weather the financial turbulence of the recession and the latest shakeup of Brexit, it is small business that seems to be proving itself the more resilient.

business awards

The evidence appears to point to SME success and durability being largely due to their greater flexibility and adaptability. Small businesses also seem to inspire greater loyalty in their customers, something which, in this highly competitive digital landscape has become ever more highly prized.

Last year’s figures are a clear tell of the environment – in 2015, small businesses accounted for 99.3% of all private sector businesses, and for 60% of all private sector employment in the UK. 47% of all private sector turnover in the UK was generated by SMEs, with a staggering ÂŁ1.8 trillion.

This is fantastic news for the nation’s economy – SMEs, much more so than larger enterprises, generate wealth and improve the local economy, by feeding profits back into the region in taxes, rent and supplies, as well as local workers’ wage spend. This has a knock on effect for public services and schools, as well as tourism.

The Federation of Small Businesses champions the inception and growth of SMEs across the nation with regional offices to support entrepreneurs and business owners wherever they exist.

To this end, FSB Merseyside are bringing the FSB Awards to the region – celebrating and rewarding the best small businesses operating today. The awards are the ideal opportunity, not only to raise your profile in local press, but also to significantly drive new business and a great way to meet and connect with other leaders of industry. The awards are open to all small businesses in the region, across 24 vibrant and varied categories. From construction to creative media – and all manner of industries between – there is a place for your business to garner the recognition that you deserve at the awards.

My Favorite 3 Things From the US Search Awards 2015 by Larry Kim

Let me start by admitting winning “US Search Personality of the Year” was my absolute us search awardsfavorite part of the last US Search Awards, at Pubcon Las Vegas 2015. I got 400% more conference keynotes this year, and I’m hugely grateful to the award that prompted this.

And there were tons of awesome moments that night. Tributes, shout-outs, and lots of fun networking. The US Search Awards at Pubcon are a crucial event—an opportunity for search marketers from across the country, from agencies and consulting firms and businesses of all sizes—to get together. It’s our chance to celebrate successes in the industry and inspire the leaders of tomorrow.

It’s part of Pubcon—the best social media, search and digital marketing conference on the planet.

And it all happens in VEGAS!

Here are my 3 favorite things from the US Search Awards 2015 (they’re the same reasons I wouldn’t miss it this October 12th, again in Vegas.)

1. Insane Networking

There are far fewer specifically search-focused events than there used to be. As search has become more and more interlinked with social, content marketing, and digital marketing as a whole, I’ve found I’m often struggling to pick out the search marketers at conferences.

seo ppc awards

But when you find them—when you get a whole table or, as in the US Search Awards, a whole ROOM full of search marketers together, it’s magic. You have your powerhouse people and winners from last year, like Duane Forrester, Frederick Vallaeys, Marty Weintraub and Mel Carson. But then you get to hang out with these amazing front-line search marketers who are neck-deep in the weeds of PPC day in and day out.

It’s an awesome mix of search marketing professionals, and it’s super rare these days to have just search marketers gathered together to talk only search marketing (well, and maybe craft beers and…other important and totally relevant issues).

It’s a PPC nerd’s dream come true.

2. A Chance to Celebrate All the Awesome of PPC

Search marketing is a stressful industry. Depending on the size of the accounts you’re dealing in, you might be handling quite a bit of your own—or someone else’s—money. Google AdWords, Bing Ads and other networks are constantly innovating, testing and launching new features, retiring products and tools you’re used to using. You can’t sit back on your heels, because the competition is constantly coming for you.

us search awards

It keeps us on our toes, all right.

That what makes this one night to get together and celebrate ALL THE AWESOME of search marketing so rewarding. We spend most of the year scouring AdWords announcements, trying to educate clients, crunching numbers, begging for budget and basically pulling our hair out. By the time the US Search Awards roll around at Pubcon, we’re more than ready to take a step back and just look at our individual and collective achievements, to see what we can learn from them.

Because let’s face it…we’re here because we love PPC. We want to see it succeeding at every level, for every type of business, so we can take those successes back to our own clients and show them what’s possible (if only they’ll give us the budget and leeway to make it happen!)

3. And It All Happens During Pubcon

One of my favorite aspects of the US Search Awards is that it happens during Pubcon, so it draws a huge, quality crowd of some of the top search marketing pros on the planet.

In 2014, the event was held at Treasure Island and in 2015, at Paris Hotel & Casino. This year marks the fourth annual edition of the US Search Awards, and it’s all happening at Caesar’s Palace on the evening of Wednesday, October 12th.

search awards pubcon

If you’ve ever been to a Pubcon, you know you need to rest up a few days ahead of boarding the plane to that pulsing, bling-y, blaring city of debauchery and awesomeness. Don’t plan on doing anything important when you get home, either. Even if you behave yourself after hours, the quality of the speakers and the content they share leaves one with a serious case of brain overload, and eager to try the new tactics and strategies in your own accounts.

I can’t wait. Every year, the US Search Awards gets better and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us this year! You have until July 22nd to get your entries in.

Tweet me if you want to meet up, or if it’s your first time and you have questions about what the US Search Awards are really like. Hope to see you there!
